Northway Insurance Services was started on April 1, 1985 in Bemidji, Minnesota. Steve North began the agency with himself and one employee, Suzy Goltz, representing one insurance company and only one client.

As an independent agency, Northway Insurance Services, since 1985, was quickly able to expand its insurance company list to include several companies in order to best fit the needs of its clients.

In 1986 Auto-Owners, a Fortune 500 company gave Northway Insurance a contract to sell their insurance. Since that date, Northway has grown considerably. In 2001, Northway Insurance was the 4th largest Auto-Owners agency in Minnesota. Today they continue to rank as one of the top 10 Auto-Owners Independent Insurance Agencies in the state of Minnesota.

In 2001 Steve North purchased the Hewitt-Zitzer Insurance Agency in Park Rapids which today is Northway Insurance of Park Rapids and located on Hwy 71 south.

Today our agencies provide our customers with seven licensed staff to help them with their insurance needs.
